Santa Fe just got a big real estate shake-up. Corcoran Group LLC has announced the launch of Corcoran Plaza Properties, its very first office in New Mexico.
The new affiliate will be based in Santa Fe and led by Broker/Owner and CEO Rob Thorwald, serving clients across the city and nearby areas up to the Colorado border.
Pamela Liebman, President and CEO of The Corcoran Group, said the expansion shows the company’s focus on luxury markets and strategic growth, especially in the Southwest.
“Santa Fe is a premium example of refined living, where heritage meets modern luxury,” Liebman said. “Rob Thorwald and his team are the perfect fit to represent our brand in such an exceptional market.”
A Local Brokerage Joins the Global Network
The firm isn’t new to Santa Fe. Originally founded in 1986 by Edward W. “Wally” Sargent as Santa Fe Properties, the brokerage has long been one of the most respected in the area.
Now rebranded as Corcoran Plaza Properties, the company has grown to more than 65 experienced agents with strong support staff.
In 2024, the team made headlines when they represented the sellers in the highest-priced home sale of the year in Santa Fe.
Thorwald, who first discovered Santa Fe’s charm back in 1982, moved to the area over a decade ago. With a background in management consulting and business strategy, he is now steering Corcoran Plaza Properties into a new era.
The office will continue to handle high-end homes, farms, ranches, and select commercial properties in Santa Fe’s key neighborhoods, including Downtown/Eastside, Las Campanas, Monte Sereno, Eldorado, and the Foothills.
“Santa Fe is such a special place, blending culture, art, and the outdoors,” Thorwald said. “We’re excited to keep serving our clients with the excellence that the Corcoran brand represents.”
A Booming Luxury Real Estate Market in Santa Fe
Santa Fe’s real estate market is known for million-dollar price tags in its most desirable neighborhoods. Buyers come from across the U.S., especially Texas, California, Colorado, Washington D.C., and the Tri-State area. Recently, international buyers have also been showing growing interest.
As a luxury resort destination, Santa Fe continues to attract second-home buyers and investors looking for both cultural richness and natural beauty.
Stephanie Anton, President of Corcoran Affiliates, said the Santa Fe launch shows the company’s strength in top-tier markets.
Since starting its affiliate network in 2020, Corcoran has been expanding steadily in both the U.S. and overseas.
In just the past year, new affiliates have launched in places like Houston, Boston, Portland, Raleigh, Washington D.C., Rhode Island, and internationally in Italy, Portugal, Canada, Mexico, and Germany.
