September 23, 2025

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has joined Tribeca’s exclusive celebrity condo club. The singer-songwriter recently purchased a duplex penthouse at 108 Leonard Street for $9.95 million, according to The Real Deal

Carpenter, who is currently touring her new album Man’s Best Friend, bought the home from Cassandra Grey, founder of beauty brand Violet Grey.

Grey originally paid $10.8 million for the apartment in 2022 and later listed it for $11.5 million last December. The listing was handled by Douglas Elliman’s Frances Katzen.

A Tribeca Gem

The penthouse spans 2,900 square feet across two floors and features a private elevator, three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and four terraces.

Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the great room with natural light, opening onto the largest terrace. Two secondary bedrooms on the first level each have en-suite bathrooms and private terraces.

The chef’s kitchen comes equipped with custom oak cabinetry, marble countertops, and premium Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.

Upstairs, the primary suite boasts a sitting area, private terrace, two walk-in closets, and a five-piece en-suite bathroom. The home also includes a private storage unit, with parking available for purchase.

Historic and Iconic

The building, designed in the 1890s by McKim, Mead & White, originally served as the New York Life Insurance Company headquarters.

Constructed in phases, it rises 13 stories along Broadway, topped with its signature four-sided clock and bell tower—earning the nickname “Clock Tower Building.”

Acquired by the city in 1967, it housed courts and government offices before gaining landmark status and a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 2013, Peebles Corporation and Elad Group purchased 108 Leonard Street for $160 million, restoring the building under architects Howard L. Zimmerman and SLCE.

Outside, the White Tuckahoe marble façade was carefully refurbished, while designer Jeffrey Beers created 167 custom residences ranging from studios to four-bedroom homes.

Celebrity Residents Galore

Over the years, 108 Leonard Street has become a hotspot for celebrities. Residents include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, who bought a two-bedroom apartment for $3.5 million in 2020, and Alexandra Clancy, widow of spy novelist Tom Clancy, who purchased a penthouse earlier this year for $21.4 million.

Other notable names include Clive Davis, Hugh Jackman, Zoe Jackson, Samuel L. Jackson’s daughter, and fashion designer Christian Siriano.

The Clock Tower Penthouse

One of the building’s last remaining units, the clock tower penthouse, hit the market in April for $19.25 million. The sprawling home offers 8,770 square feet of interior space and 3,082 square feet outdoors.

Amenities include a porte-cochere, full-service garage, double-height lobby, fitness center, indoor lap pool, wine cellar with private dining, and rooftop gardens complete with fire pits, cabana lounges, dining areas, and skyline views.

With its mix of history, luxury, and celebrity cachet, 108 Leonard Street remains one of Tribeca’s most coveted addresses—and now, Sabrina Carpenter is part of its storied legacy.
